Stereolab Picture
Stereolab is a UK-based band whose style, mixing 1950s-1960s pop and loungemusic with the "motorik" beat of krautrock, was one of the first to which the term " post-rock" was applied. They are noted for the use of vintage keyboard instruments like Moog synthesizers and Vox and Farfisa organs. Stereolab is also notable for founding their own record label, Duophonic Records, with a grant from UK charity The Prince's Trust. The band is often referred to as "The Groop" by their fans (and in the title of their song "The Groop Play Chord X" on the album Space Age Bachelor Pad Music). They were founded in 1990 by songwriters (guitar, keyboards), formerly of the band McCarthy, and Laetitia Sadier(sometimes credited as Seaya Sadier; vocals, keyboards, trombone, guitar), who is from franceand sings in both English and French.

Stereolab

Souviens-toi des vacances
vacances de l'apptit
qui cherchent ressemblance
a la grande bourgeoisie
Par quelle diffrence
peuvent-elles se distinguer
leurs ?"tontures sans provence"?
ou nos vies passionnes
vite dpendances
au doux gens tout petits
?"retour"? a l'importance
de leur vies tourdies
Un moment de vacance
rien aprs interdit
moment d'indpendance
et ce que c'est beau la vie
un moment de vacance
oublier ses soucis
embrasser l'abondance qu'a a ?"confier"? la vie
J'ai envi de prendre l'avance
qu'on prenne de la distance
?"tlvison m'ennui et des vives harmonies"?

translation
Remember the vacations
Vacations of the Petty
Which seeks to ressemble
The Great Bourgeoisie
Through which difference
Can they be distinguished?
Their tortures without "provence"
Or passionate envies
Lives of dependance/addiction
Or small/petty people
Return to the importance
Of their dizzy lives
A moment of vacation
Nothing after forbidden
Moment of independance
And how beautiful live is!
A moment of vacation
To forget all worries/To be carefree
To embrace the abundance that life "confides/procures"
I want us to move ahead/forward
That we take some distance
Divisions bore me ?Divisions...me?
